BiographyA tough childhood, filled with personal loss left a lasting influence on a young Tom Hancock. Born in Rochester NY, Thomas Hancock IV lost both parents by his seventh birthday. His parents met in Clearwater Beach, FL where his father, a full-time student at Tampa University, was working part time as a lifeguard and bartender/waiter for Sarah Levine at Lucky Pierre's. Soon after he married Mary Margaret Falcone, the couple moved to upstate NY. The move brought nothing but trouble. Tom's mother was raped and killed in the infamous Highland Park Triangle by an inmate who escaped a secure ward of the Highland Psych Center (at the time known as Deep-8). Tom's father was shot and killed by his wife's father Vinnie Falcone in a hunting accident. Tom was raised by his obsessive aunt Antonia, his dad's older sister who brought him to her home in Deposit NY. She took little interest in her foster son, leaving him mostly on his own. He used the time to develop himself physically and mentally. Brilliant and athletically gifted, he was a horrible student, impatient, demanding and feisty. His grades were good enough to get into USF, but he dropped out after the first semester, broke up with Kiara and moved to Clearwater Beach. He job-hopped across the country over the next fifteen years, tending bar and studying modern physics, until getting a job offer for manager of Pittsford Tavern. Like Kiara and Ty Burke, he has enhanced mental and physical abilities resulting from an encounter with The Orb, an encounter they all have suppressed. Other qualities/quirks:

Born in Buffalo, New York to a professional Jewish couple David and Julia Warner, her full name is Diane Kaye. She shortened her name to simply Diane K. sometime during college for reasons known only to her. As a child, Diane K. exhibited genuis and brilliant insights, but was also very troubled, a condition caused by the clash of her human and alien identities. Diane attended Cornell University, 1987 – 1994, graduated with PHDs in Philosophy and Ancient Cultures. She taught for a few years then dropped out of site rather suddenly in 2000 to assume other identities including Judy Robinson, and Zelda Gilroy. Her older brother Terry attended the University of Rochester where he was president of the ΑΨΩ fraternity where Ron Belliveau (Kiara's boyfriend before moving to NY) and Peter Stone (AKA "Skippy") were members. In fact, it was Diane K. who suggested the pledge name of Skippy to her brother. Physically, Diane K. is medium height and the distinctive facial features—high cheek bones, full lips, a slight bump on her nose. Her long, straigt hair is naturally black, but she often dyes it to match her mode or character, including a single contrasting streak. Other qualities/quirks:

BiographyAn established poet and author of the "Beat Generation", Maguire's novel Chasing the Meridian, the first book in a series of five, became a surprise best seller when published in 1956. Maguire was born in the Greenwich Village section of New York, the only child of Irish immigrants John Maguire and Sally Connaghan. His parents never married and his father disappeared before Dan's first birthday. Soon after, his mother fell into a relationship and following her boyfriend, took young Dan to the small town of Port Richey, Florida. She deserted the child less than a year later, running off to parts unknown after remarrying. For the next fifteen or so years, Dan was shuttled between various Catholic orphanages and foster homes. He graduated Clearwater HS in 1945, attended University of Florida on a scholarship and graduated with a BA in Literature. He taught high school English for a few years before changing careers, taking a job as an insurance agent in 1953. That same year he also met and married Elizabeth O’Brien and, it is thought, began writing Chasing the Meridian. Maguire rode a brief period of fame following the publication of Chasing and was under contract with the literary publisher Vega House for a series of sequels. Three of these were published in his lifetime; a fourth sequel entitled Song of the Dead was published posthumously in 1972. Rumors of a lost manuscript for a sixth novel are unsubstantiated. Even though his subsequent works did not achieved the same popularity as Chasing, he made a comfortable living from royalties, and the occasional public appearance, typically on the college lecture circuit. He went missing in July 1971 and was assumed drowned in Gulf of Mexico off Clearwater Beach although no body was recovered. [Top] |
